Sounds kind of like the noise you make when you want to belittle something or cast it aside. I think that’s actually P-A-S-H-A-A-H but it works pretty well in this case too. PABAAH is the catchy acronym for Patriotic Americans Boycotting Anti-American Hollywood. Gets me all tingly just typing it. Among their patriotic calls to action are: “Please sign our petition to charge Michael Moore with treason,” and “Let’s help those who feel persecuted to … get the HELL out of our country! Love it or leave it!” You can find more information on this at HelpThemLeave.com. PABAAH has done such a great job on their website, that it makes me want to visit again and again. It’s just hilarious! I can’t imagine it doing anything other than making them look even more ridiculous.
My friend William pointed this whole thing out to me today. As a member of said band, he must feel honored.
AmericanPatriot2004 AKA Daryl Mason writes:
Recently, a band by the name of Skinny Puppy has been slandering the president on their tour. In their latest shows they have staged beheadings similar to the ones in Iraq. If that wasn’t already tasteless and disgusting enough the vocalist from the band proceeds to take the hoods off of the terrorists revealing them to be Bush and Cheney. After hearing this I sent out letters to college radio stations asking them not to play this band anymore. After all, college radio is either paid for by donations by people like us or in a lot of cases with our tax dollars. We should have a sayso about where our money is going to. Obviously, from the responses I received the DJs feel that we don’t. These are the responses I have received through e-mail….
“That is pretty funny, I’ve never played skinny puppy on my radio show…. I think Im gonna start though. I never knew what cool guys they were, until you e-mailed me.”
“What part of dissent, exactly, do you feel is unpatriotic? What part of having a differing opinion and expressing it is unamerican? I wait with bated breath for your reply.”
“Are you people on the Right actually willing to mobilize against your fellow citizens for expressing their outrage? Are you seriously going to censure someone for just playing the music of someone who you don’t agree with? Sounds to me like Iraq’s former government is spreading over here not the other way around.”
“Your website talks about people being anti-american, but apparently you do not practice what you preach. The number one thing that sets America apart from the rest of the world is our total freedom to say and do what we would like without breaking laws. You threatening someone to cease using their privileges of being American is perhaps the most un-patriotic thing you could ever do. Your website is complete and utter nonsense and you are doing nothing more than attempting (and failing) to make America a more narrow minded and more globally hated country. This radio station will not give in to your McCarthy black listing, and you and your website are the true terrorists. Take care.”
The DJ’s responses go on and on and not surprisingly (they are DJ’s at college radio stations), they all follow pretty much this same vein. Poor Daryl continues:
However, these people didn’t just stop at sending e-mails. They have started to troll the PABAAH site starting trouble. I have viewed the domains these people are coming from. A large portion of these domains are college campuses.
Daryl goes on to list all the addresses and phone numbers of the stations that are now bombarding the PABAAH website. The list must have hundreds of radio stations! Way to go, college DJ’s! Too bad Daryl didn’t see fit to post his own email address.
UPDATE: Skinny Puppy’s “anti-American” antics haven’t gone unnoticed by the Secret Service either. Detective Steinmiller did leave his email address.
