It was great meeting you and getting to hand with you in LA. Was so glad at the end of Friday and Saturday night I found myself hanging out with real people from LA. I think it's impossible to get a feal for the city in just a few days... in fact i think it would take years just to start to dift through the layers of LA... but it was great to get away from the hotels and the AYI and the tourist district right there around kodak theatre. That to me really is no different than the Hard rock cafe/ rainforest cafe / rockin mcdonalds area of chicago... homgenous is the term i'd use to describe it... sections like that are throw aways, there the same in every big city. Was nice to get off the beaten path and sit around and do some powerbook screenings... found a lot of that going on in fact. 17" powerbooks are the perfect impromptu screening setup.

Oh!

And I loved this video too. I really liked what Jackson West had to say. Ironicly while we were hanging out some I didn't get a chance to really talk with him. It had been a busy weekend and I was pretty talked out... which is odd for me. :)

The flip side of what he and I were saying is that hope for greater cultural capacity... not just that this will on some level become and industry... but that people will always and forever hence forward feel ever freer to communicate with their friends through sharing video publicly on the web... as free as if it they were sharing a picture... or talking on the phone. The scope of video blogging is not just entertainment... it's as much about communications as anything.

Again, Great video! I know it must have been a lot of work to edit, but I'll keep an eye out for the hopes video.

Glad you thought it was so optimistic... I think if I were to rate vloggercon 2006 I'd say it was passionately pessimistic... people were really afraid it was all going to collapse in on youtube and popular mainstream crap and their personal vlogs would just become like old geocities pages. But so far as I can see this space (especially all the 10's of thousands of videoblogs not on youtube) is more vital and innovative than ever.

[...] I also really dug Micki Krimmel’s Pixelodeon video, shot on a little hand-held throughout the second day, which gives a better idea of the breadth of people and the feel of the event, and is a lot more intimate and personal than anything G4’s TV crew got. Sorry, my friends at G4, but a videoblogger had to win this one. It’s Pixelodeon! Plus, it has Fred. [...]

biggest fear: being unable to communicate. i have a recurring nightmare where my teeth fall out and afterwards i'm running around the rest of the dream with my teeth shards in my hand, unable to speak. second biggest: is being misunderstood.

This was a really awesome video Micki.
Really nicely edited too!

I share a lot of these fears... centipedes and failure.
It's all centipedes and failure, man.

That was such a great video Micki. Loved hearing everyone's answer! I'm so happy you documented Pixelodeon in this way... It really gives an insight into people's psyche.

My greatest fear: losing my mind. Seriously. :)

Steve said it correctly.
It's been such a good 3 years when video sprouted on the web.
Everything we video geeks wanted is here (often because we make it happen).
I fear that in 10 years, Ill have hemorrhoids and shaggy dog stories without really having changed how we communicate.

I heard the young CEO of Youtube on the radio this afternoon. He talked about people "consuming" content. He talked about people needed to question everything they record to make sure they have the right to what is happening before them. This just spurs me to take my vitamins and keep pushing.

shameless plug: check out our new project...http://politicalvideo.org
Searchable and remixable President.
