Big changes are afoot in the Mickiverse. I wanted to do a quick post here to update y’all on the goings on. I’ve recently decided to leave my position as Director of Community at Revver. It’s been an amazing year and I just want to thank everyone for their constant support and friendship. I’m so honored to be a part of the growing videoblogging community and I couldn’t be more excited about where all this new media business is headed.
Revver is truly a groundbreaking online video-sharing platform that rewards content-creators by giving them a stake in the profits. The first site of its kind to share revenue with its users, Revver shifted the conversation in the industry, pioneering creator rights and open media sharing. I’m really proud to have been a part of that and I wish Revver all the best as they move forward.
So what’s next for me? Well, I plan to do some consulting for companies working in new media and online community. I’m currently exploring a few projects with real potential to create change in the media industry and to draw attention to important social issues. As the lines between “Old” and “New” media blur, now is an exciting time for the industry and consulting will allow me to participate in a broader way. If you have any thoughts, suggestions, or know of a fun project or two, feel free to contact me.
I’m also going to spend some quality time working on my own projects. I’m in the very early phases of planning a multimedia project about atheism as a positive force for social change. I’ll also be working more on The Mickipedia Show and some other online shows. I’m really lucky to have so many smart and talented friends to collaborate with.
Oh, and I’m also taking some time off. I recently realized that aside from the occasional “vacation” interrupted by conference calls and emails, I’ve never actually taken a break from work. I’m thinking this may just be the ideal time to turn it all off for a bit. A back-packing trip through South America perhaps? If you have any pointers, let me know because I’m hoping to head out mid-May.

First! Congrats, Micki!
Congratulations! Good luck!
Personally, I have a real need to check out Dubai and their hyperfuturist ways.
But tonight, we celebrate freedom from work!
Come back to San Francisco! I know you love smog and crap, but we have better burritos. Also, you are definitely qualified to work as a consultant, based solely on the fact that you said “as the lines of ‘old’ and ‘new’ media blur.”
Congrats Micki! This is a very tough decision, and clearly you’ve thought a lot about it.
Definitely take the time you need with that long deserved time off. You won’t regret it, and in all likelihood you will come out of it with a much clearer vision of all the big things you want to do next.
Tantek
P.S. Of course I have to point out that you just happened to post this at 13:37 hours. How apropos.
And I can’t do math when up since 4:30am. 15:37 hours. Nevermind that P.S.
Super awesome congrats! I’m totally penciling in a vacation sometime in the next 5-6 years.
in soviet russia, job quits you
Sweet!
Enjoy the vacation and good luck with the consulting.
Go do volunteer work in a developing country- best thing I ever did. Have you any idea how many grass roots charities out there who could benefit from your skills. Imagine the fundraising options you could give them.
Yeah, I know..it’s a little out there.
Just a thought.
Good luck, Micki! Enjoy your time off and good luck with the next step!
Whoa. I’m sure it will be the start of Big Things!
Hugs,
Buns/Chou
Thanks for dropping by our little burgh last weekend and trading buzzwords with us bubblites. As I mentioned on Sunday, my next international trip is hopefully to Cuba — which just happens to be an atheist state. Plus, you can put my dominoes lessons to good use!
Ms. Micki, Hope the trip’s a blast and I don’t need to tell you how much you’ll be missed! Thanks for your all-around greatness and brilliance along the way, more for sure…. you are loved!!!!! Steven
congrats, Micki! progress and independence is sexy. talk soon….
Missed this bit earlier but South America? Try Central America – just settling in Nicaragua.
Very nice place.
you definitely did the right thing, not that you need me to tell you that. also:
veronica sez: “we have better burritos”
thedaniel sez: purely subjective! i’ll take my rice on the side, thank you.
congrats micki. you’re a star, and you know that. i know for a fact that you can do whatever it is you decide to do. you could tell me tomorrow that you’re building a city out of pipecleaners, and i would charge my camera to take pictures of it.
wow, tough loss for revver, but so glad you’re ready to move on to your own thang. don’t leave LA for too long, or at least not before we get a chance to kick back a bit with ya.
Revver is going to miss you! You are changing and you should be proud of how far you have come. I’m happy you are going to keep up Mickipedia.com because we will know where you are and what you are doing in your travels. I can’t wait to live vicariously through you. I hope that collaborating and consulting will bring you integrity. Bless!
Cambodia. You won’t be sorry.
It is not begining, it is not end… I’m giving you a virtual hug and good luck !
kick ass. evolution baby, the “natural progression”
How did I miss this? Do whatever it is you want Ms. Krimmel. Just don’t leave LA…
Big hug – and congrats on the next step! Onwards and upwards!
I wish you all the best in your future endeavors and am looking forward to checking in on this site, while you transition into your new life!
Hoorray for the Future i say.
Most change is good change, certainly so in this case.
Cosmo-speed, soldier. Perhaps some hawt collaboratins’ are to come for us!
You should go work @ my aunt’s orphanage/school for homeless boys in Tanzania. Not only do you get way the hell out of town and into a wonderfully simpler world, but you’ll be working with hard core baptist missionaries. Give you some nice counterpoints for your atheism project no doubt.
Bolivia and Peru can make for a fun backpacking adventure; my wife and I did it back in ‘99, visiting Cusco, Machu Picchu, Lake Titicaca and La Paz:

One quick bit of advice – don’t do Machu Picchu as a day trip. Spend a couple of nights at Aguas Calientes so you can visit the ruins without being overrun by turistas.
